Connacht (West) - Gyreum C/A

The Gyreum, Ireland’s first ecolodge to be awarded the EU Eco-Label for tourist accommodation offers a feast of events and experiences to share. From the Greek root gyr meaning 'round' - with the Latin ending eum meaning 'building' much as the Colis-eum - means the big place, the Gyr-eum means the round place.
As you rise out of the Midlands - and feel the first savagery of the North West - that is where the Gyreum nestles. An 100ft wide wooden Christmas-pudding shaped ring fort, a green and discreet hobbit-like edifice overlooking Lough Arrow in rural south Sligo. It's aligned to 3 solar events pointing toward the megalithic cairns of Moytura, Carrowkeel and Queen Maeve's on top of Knocknara
